About Creature Breeder
[edit | edit source]Creature Breeder is a free-to-play web browser game revolving around stylizied and unique creatures with their own complex and realistic genetics. Creatures can be bred to produce eggs from days 5 - 20, meaning it doesn't need to take forever to start seeing genetics in action. Eggs take around 30 hours to hatch. You can trade your creatures with other players, or buy more from the store.
Your creatures need to be fed to be kept happy, but they are never at risk of dying, and can live in old age infinitely. An elderly creature can also be made breedable again with an item (Fleeting Youth Potion), one of several utility items you can buy from the shop. You can also buy aesthetic items to decorate your creatures' farms and create beautiful designs.
An additional (and optional) aspect of the game is you can create sub-breeds for the different creatures. Sub-breeds hopefuls have requirements to be accepted to the list of sub-breeds, and are reviewed by an official team. You can find the rules here.
The game was originally created in 2005 and went down for a few years after the end of Flash, but returned with an update back in 2024
About the Wiki
[edit | edit source]At some point, there was a Wiki for Creature Breeder but it seems to have been lost to time. This wiki has a few goals:
- Create pages for each type of creature, with examples of possible traits
- Potentially, try to deduce how different genes play out in terms of dominance, co-dominance, incomplete dominance, or recessive. This will always be speculative, and will need some sort of guideline system for citations of family trees and which creatures are used as examples for breeding.
- Create a list of items in the game, with information on how to get them (prioritizing non-shop items)
- Provide a space for people to list themselves as traders, breeders of specific generational breeds or sub-breeds, and seeking partners for breeding projects (again, will need some sort of guideline system first, and emphasis that the official Discord is an easier place to chat with people and advertise)
